Cleaning
Introduction
All column parts can be cleaned with the most commonly used agents, such as
detergents, ethanol, methanol and weak acids. For chemical resistance to special
cleaning agents, see Section 8.2 Chemical resistance, on page 33.
Cleaning before maintenance or
service
Make sure to decontaminate and clean the column before performing any
maintenance activities, service, or returning the product.
Clean the frits
Pump methanol slowly for 30 minutes then leave to let dry.
Note:
Do not sonicate the frits.
Test the cleaned distribution plates
If the adapter and the cleaned frit are connected to the system over a beaker and a flow
rate of 2 × 100 mL/min is started, the pressure reading on the pump display or
UNICORN should be 3 ± 0.5 bar g, depending on the length of the tubing connected to
the adapter.
