NOTE

In general, the plume created by the interaction of the pulsed 
Nd:YAG laser and biological tissue is relatively minor when com-
pared with other lasers. However, use of an evacuation system 
during lasing is recommended to minimize inadvertent dispersal of 
plume.

NOTE

It is advisable to take pre-treatment photographs prior to initial 
treatment for before/after comparisons.

Following are descriptions of common methods currently employed by healthcare profession-
als using Nd:YAG lasers to perform clinical procedures. The protocols are based on informa-
tion volunteered by healthcare professionals and researchers. It is important to remember that 
any patient may respond differently to a particular laser procedure. Therefore, these protocols 
are meant to be guidelines only and are not intended to replace good clinical judgment of the 
healthcare professional.

Dermatology

GenesisPlus gives the user the flexibility to adjust the pulse width, repetition rate and fluence 
based on treatment area size, skin type and tan. The pulse width settings available with Gene-
sisPlus are ideal for targeting very small chromophores, such as the papillary dermal plexus 
and enlarged capillaries, for the treatment of:

• Wrinkles/texture/enlarged pores

• Diffuse erythema, including erythema from rosacea

• Poikiloderma of Civatte

• Scars

• Warts

GenesisPlus can be used to perform non-ablative skin therapy using parameters that provide 
dermal heating with preferential heating of very fine targets. With the appropriate parameters, 
this procedure can be performed without epidermal cooling.

For treatment-specific guidelines, refer to the GenesisPlus Treatment Guidelines (D1074) 
accompanying this manual. These guidelines can also be obtained from your local Cutera rep-
resentative or on the Cutera VIP website.
