User-selectable Parameters
In pulsed lasers, such as GenesisPlus, fluence and pulse width affect the nature of laser-tissue
interaction. The GenesisPlus system has sufficient laser peak power to allow for a wide range
of fluence and pulse width combinations, enabling you to select optimal tissue interaction
parameters. In Genesis mode, the system can also treat at high repetition rates, gradually heat-
ing the tissue and stimulating the production of new collagen.
Selecting the Fluence
Fluence is defined as energy per unit area and is measured in joules per square centimeter
(J/cm
2
). Select the desired fluence by pressing the
and
buttons below the “J/cm
2
”
display.
CAUTION
The fluence shown on the fluence display indicates the fluence
delivered to the tissue.
NOTE
Laser parameters are interrelated. Therefore, not all combinations
of fluence, pulse width and repetition rate settings are simultane-
ously available. If you attempt to select a fluence, pulse width or
repetition rate setting that is not available, the system emits a dis-
tinct audible tone. Changing one or both of the other parameters
may enable you to select the desired treatment setting.
