Note - A good antenna ground connection for
the MBA-3 / MBA-3A is essential for optimum receiver
performance. The ground wire should be kept as short as
possible.
4.2.2 MBL-3 H-Field Antenna
The MBL-3 uses a 1-14-UNS thread for mounting. An optional
magnetic mount and 5/8
th
inch Survey Adapter are available from CSI
Wireless. For best performance, mount this antenna so that the center
of the black gasket is at least 8 cm (3 inches) above the metal surface
upon which it sits.
The MBL-3 requires a 50
Ω
impedance antenna extension cable such
as RG-58U (up to 150 m (492 ft) in length) for proper operation. The
MBL-3 does not require an antenna ground connection.
Note - Mount this antenna 8 cm (3 inches) above any metal
surface upon which it is installed.
Caution – Antennas threaded onto a mount should be tightened
only by hand. Over tightening may cause damage to the antenna.
Damage caused by over tightening is not covered under
warranty.
4.2.3 ABL-1 Aircraft Antenna
The ABL-1 is installed from outside the aircraft, through six mounting
holes onto the mounting surface. Mount the ABL-1 horizontally either
on top or beneath the aircraft fuselage, considering potential sources of
interference. Performance may be improved with the antenna mounted
beneath the aircraft.
The ABL-1 requires a 50
Ω
impedance antenna extension cable such
as RG-58U (up to 150 m (492 ft) in length) for proper operation. The
ALB-1 does not require an antenna ground connection.
