Application / Properties

The explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switch are designed for the safe isola-
tion of the electrical energy at all poles while
maintenance, cleaning and repair work is
being carried out on equipment, machinery
and drives in potentially explosive atmosphe-
res.
See technical data, for the temperature class,
explosion group and permissible ambient tem-
perature.

Due to the AC 23 motor switching capacity of
the the explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switch, reliable isolation (switching) is
also possible during operation.

Due to the mechanical design of the he explo-
sion-protected main-, load- and safety switch,
compulsory opening of the contacts is possi-
ble.

The explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switchs fulfil the isolating properties ac-
cording to EN/IEC 60 947-3,

Die "NOT-AUS" - Ausführung entspricht den
Anforderungen der EN/IEC 60 204-1.

To prevent unauthorized switching, the explo-
sion-protected main-, load- and safety switch
can be locked in the „OFF“ position by means
of 3 padlocks, (shackle diameter of the pad-
locks up to 4-6 mm, preferred diameter 6mm).

A built-in locking device prevents the opening
of the enclosure in the „OFF“ position.

The data according to sections 3 and 4 shall
be taken into account during use

Applications other than those described are
not permissible without a written  declaration
of consent from Messrs. COOPER CROUSE-
HINDS GmbH.

3

Conformity with standards

The explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switch are conform to the standards
specified in the EC-Declaration of conformity,
enclosed separately.

It has been designed, manufactured and te-
sted according to the state of the art and to
DIN EN ISO 9001 and IEC 80079-34:2011.

94/9 EWG: Geräte und Schutzsysteme zur
estimmungsgemäßen Verwendung in
explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen.

The control units fulfil further requirements,
such as the EC directive on electromagnetic
compatibility (2004/108/EC).

Field of application

The explosion-protected main-, load- and
safety switch are intended for use in potenti-
ally explosive atmospheres in Zone 22  in
accordance with EN/IEC 60079-10-2.

The enclosure materials used, including any
external metal parts, are high quality materials
which ensure a corrosion protection and resi-
stance to chemical substances corresponding
to the requirements in a “normal industrial at-
mosphere”:

- sheet steel with plastic powder coating

- glass-fibre reinforced polyester

- impact resistant polyamide

In case of use in an extremely aggressive at-
mosphere, you can obtain information concer-
ning the chemical resistance of the materials
used from your Cooper Crouse-Hinds branch.
