5. Safety instructions

We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury if the product has been abused in any
way or damaged by improper use or failure to observe these operating instructions. The warranty will then expire! An
exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important information in the operating instructions. Carefully read the whole
operating instructions before operating the device, otherwise there is risk of danger.

Product safety

The product must not be exposed to substantial mechanical strain.

•

Do not expose the product to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong vibrations, excessive humidity, dampness, dust, easily inflammable

•

gases, vapours, or solvents.
The camera has a plastic cover. Make sure the cover is not scratched when removing dirt or snow from the cover.

•

The camera’s design is water-resistant. Do not dismantle or alter the camera. This could cause faults in the operation of the device. The

•

camera is water-resistant, but not water-proof. Do not submerge the camera in water.
It is possible that the camera will not function properly with rapid temperature changes (e.g. when hot water is poured over the car chassis).

•

The camera can withstand rain, snow and rough weather.
As with most wireless devices, this device too can interfere with other wireless devices, and vice versa. Wireless devices such as WIFI

•

routers, Bluetooth devices and mobile phones can interfere with the monitor’s normal operation. In this case, you will see rolling lines, blurred
or static screens on the monitor.
When installing the rear view camera, make sure that the safety of other systems and devices in the vehicle is not compromised. Take note

•

of regulations including relevant motor vehicle safety regulations.
Improper installation and wiring of the rear view camera can cause the car electronics to be damaged – including important computer and

•

operating systems. This could further cause an accident or a fire, possibly leading to property damage and/or severe injuries to persons. It is
highly recommended to seek advice by a qualified car mechanic, or to have the installation completed by a qualified car mechanic.

Safety during driving

Operating a rear view camera is not sufficient to completely cover all blind spots of a car. Many injuries and deaths occur while entering/

•

exiting driveways or parking spaces when drivers fail to see children, animals etc in the vicinity of the car. Here are a few safety tips which
will help you avoid accidents while reversing.

Walk around the entire car before entering it. Take note of children, toys and animals before taking your seat behind the wheel and starting

 -

the engine.
Keep in mind where children are playing. Have children stand at a place where they are clearly visible.

 -

Be careful with small children. Small children are not easy to spot.

 -

Parents, guardians and other adults have to be vigilant while watching children, especially when children are present on driveways,

 -

courtyards or the parking lot and play close to parked cars.
Lower your window so that you can hear what is going on around the car.

 -

Drivers of larger vehicles (mini vans etc.) have to be especially careful.

 -

Teach children to step back from cars which have just been started.

 -

Personal safety

•

Packaging material can become a dangerous toy for children. Never leave it unattended.

•

•

When strong light meets the camera, there is also the possibility that objects will not be displayed properly. The monitor can flicker with

•

fluorescent light.

6. Initial operation

6.1. Camera

6.1.1. Installation of camera

To ensure maximum viewing angles, the rear view camera is to be mounted at the vehicle‘s upper or lower license plate bracket.

These operating instructions are not valid for all vehicle types. Due to the large number of car models, they only serve as general
guidelines. Please contact your manufacturer with vehicle-specific questions. Check your country‘s vehicle codes and regulations as
to whether use of this camera is permitted.

Take off rear license plate.

1.

Look for the rear lamps and select a cable duct for the camera to use as a power source.

2.

Check and determine the course of the camera cable to the rear lamps.

3.

Insert camera’s power and aerial cables through the rubber seal (included). The rubber seal protects the cable against metal edges.

4.

Look for holes and openings where the camera cable could be inserted at the license plate, close to the mounting location. Drill a small hole

5.

(6.5 mm diameter) and insert the wires, if no suitable opening already exists. Choose a place close to the camera’s power cables.
Insert cables into the selected/drilled opening.

6.

Feed power cable to selected rear lamp. Make sure the cables are not obstructed or entangled.

7.

Dismount lamp socket from your rear lamp enclosure. It is highly recommended to remove the bulbs first.

8.

Connect camera‘s power cable.

9.

The factory default camera angle might not be suitable for all vehicle types. Readjust if necessary. The camera angle determines the
size and location of the camera‘s blind spot and therefore should be carefully chosen to suit your vehicle. If the camera pivot becomes
loose, fasten it again by tightening the screws at the back of the camera via the mounting bracket. Check the camera angle from time
to time, so that it is always correctly aligned and adjusted to the blind spot.

Pull antenna wire away from the camera power wire.  Secure antenna wire by using double-sided tape

10.

Put the bulb back into light socket. Reinstall light socket into reverse light housing.

11.

Slide license plate between camera and mounting (a, b)

12.

Align camera mount to license plate in the centre of the license plate.

13.

Use double sided tape to secure the camera onto the license plate. Press license plate and camera mounting firmly to secure and get full

14.

contact between the license plate and the double-sided tape.
Screw license plate with camera onto rear of the vehicle (c).

15.

Once camera is secured, adjust camera angle to desired point of view.
