Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries

Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
•   Leaking or damaged normal / rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns; there-

fore, use suitable safety gloves.

•   Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into

fi

re. There is a risk of

explosion!

•   Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries

that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.

•  Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the battery/rechargeable battery (pay attention to plus/+
 and

minus/-).

Installation

Please proceed in the following sequence:
1. Insert the suspension bracket, if necessary, to the hand shaft (required only for B/N 43 97 87).
2. Insert the supplied rubber washer to the hand shaft.
3.  Insert the clock from the back through the hole in the dial and align it with the hanger horizontally

from above.

4.  Place the shim on the hand shaft and screw the clock in place using the central hexagon nut.

Do not tighten the nut too tightly to avoid distortion and damage.

5.  Insert the hour hand

fi

rst and then the minute hand gently to the hand shaft and secure the minute hand

using the small knurled nut. If a second hand is used, the cap nut can be used to cover the hand shaft.
For B/N 43 97 87, the minute hand must not be secured.

6. Finally insert the second hand into the hand shaft, if used.

7. Align all the hands of the clock to the 12:00 o'clock position.
8.  Make sure that the hands are aligned parallel to the dial, so that you cannot touch or drag on the dial

during subsequent operation.

The minute and second hands should not exceed the following dimensions and weights:

Minute hand: max. 160 mm / 6 g

Second hand: max. 130 mm / 6g

Inserting the Battery/Rechargeable Battery

•   Insert a battery of the 1.5V AA/Mignon type into the battery compartment on the back of the case. The

correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.

•  Replacing the battery is necessary when the clock stops or the accuracy of movement decreases.

A rechargeable battery may be used, but due to the lower voltage output (rechargeable battery

= 1.2V, standard battery = 1.5V) and the lower capacity, the service life is shorter.

Setting the time

Set the time by turning the adjustment knob with the clock symbol on the back of the case. The adjustment
knob can be rotated in both directions here.

Maintenance and Cleaning

To clean the clock, a dry, soft and clean cloth or a brush is suf

fi

cient. Do not use any chemical cleaning

agents, as they can discolour the plastic case.
