4. Possible side eff ects

When your Lumilisse Hair Remover is used according to these instructions, side eff ects
and complications are rare. Nonetheless, all cosmetic treatments, even those designed
for use at home, involve some risks. Therefore, it is important to understand and accept
these risks and possible complications when you use a pulsed light depilation system
designed for use at home.

If you overlap pulses or administer multiple pulses on the same patch of skin, you
may experience the following side eff ects (see Section 6 for instructions on how to
use the unit correctly):

Mild stinging sensation in the skin

Even though the pulsed light depilation is generally tolerated well, most people who use
it feel a slight stinging sensation during use, also described as a prickling sensation on the
area being treated. Generally, this sensation lasts throughout the application, even for a
few minutes afterward. Any discomfort beyond this sensation is abnormal and means
that either you must stop the treatment, because you cannot tolerate it, or you must
lower the selected power level.

  Redness

Your skin could become red just after use of the Lumilisse Hair Remover or in the 24 hours
following treatment. The redness generally disappears within 24 hours. Consult your
physician if it persists longer than 2 to 3 days.

  Hypersensitivity of the skin

The skin is more sensitive in the area that has been treated and could dry out and fl ake.

  Burns or sores

In rare circumstances, your skin may burn or blister after treatment (follow instructions in
Section 6 for proper usage).

  Scarring

Even though these cases are very rare, permanent scars may appear. Generally, the scars
take the form of a whitish, superfi cial lesion (hypotrophic). Nonetheless, the scar may be
large and red (hypertrophic) or large and extended beyond the injured area (keloid). If
scarring occurs, consult your physician.

  Change in pigmentation

The Lumilisse Hair Remover targets the hair roots, in particular, the pigmented cells of the
bulb. Nonetheless, there is a risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increase in the brown
pigmentation or discoloration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) of the surrounding skin.
The risk of change in pigmentation is higher among people with darker skin.
Generally, the change in pigmentation and the discoloration are temporary. Cases of
permanent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation are rare.

Do not attempt to open or to repair your Lumilisse Hair Remover yourself. Opening the

device will expose you to dangerous electrical components and to the energy of the
pulsed light, which could cause serious physical injury and/or irreversible eye damage.

Please contact customer service if your Lumilisse Hair Remover is broken, damaged or

needs repair.

Your device should never be left unsupervised while plugged in or turned on.
Do not plug in your Lumilisse Hair Remover if the cord or the plug is damaged. Keep the

cord away from all heat sources.

Stop using your unit if you notice a defect or if it appears defective or emits an abnormal

noise or odor. In particular, stop using the unit immediately if the fl ash lamp is cracked
or is stained.

Always disconnect the Lumilisse Hair Remover adapter from the wall outlet immediately

after use.

Unplug your Lumilisse Hair Remover before you clean it.
Only use the unit with the included Lumilisse Face and Body attachments.

Do not attempt to open or repair your Lumilisse Hair
Remover yourself.

Always unplug this device from the electrical outlet immediately after using and
before cleaning.

Do not reach for any device that has fallen into water.

Unplug immediately.

Do not use while bathing or in the shower.
Do not place or store device where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
Do not place in, or drop into water or other liquids.
Keep dry – Do not operate in wet or moist conditions.
Do not handle plug with wet hands.
