3.  Precautions for safe use

Follow the instructions in this manual very carefully when selecting the power level
during each session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover.

Selecting an inappropriate power level may cause side eff ects.

For detailed instructions on selecting the power, see the section 5.2 “Skin Color Sensor
System – automatic detection of intensity level.”

Avoid side eff ects!

Do not use a second pulse on the same patch of skin!
If burns or blisters appear, STOP IMMEDIATELY!

Avoid complications after using the Lumilisse Hair Remover!

Avoid exposure to sunlight and other sources of UV light, such as tanning beds.

“Exposure to sunlight” means continuous exposure to direct sunlight without
protection for about 15 minutes or continuous exposure to indirect sunlight without
protection for an hour.

Precautions for safe use prior to and during treatment

Avoid exposure to the sun for 4 weeks prior to a treatment with the Lumilisse Hair

Remover and again for 2 weeks following the treatment.

Appropriate protection, like clothing that off ers suffi

  cient coverage or a sunscreen

(with a protection factor higher than 50), should be used regularly 3 weeks before and
after the treatment.

Caution: It is important that you follow these instructions the same way if you are

getting exposure to UV tanning light on a sun bed.

If you have applied a self-tanning cream to your skin, wait until the cream’s tanning

eff ect has disappeared completely before using your appliance.

Always shave the area to be treated (except the face), and make sure you have clean,

dry skin before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover. Do not use other methods of

Make sure birthmarks and tattoos are covered during the Lumilisse Hair Remover

treatment and also cover brown or black marks, as well as freckles, nevus (skin tags),
warts or growths before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover. Dark skin or dark spots on

your skin may absorb too much light which can injure the skin. Cover the area with a
material that will not absorb the light, such as white medical tape.

Never look directly into the light emitted by the fl ash lamp. If the light refl ected off

your skin is uncomfortably bright, you may use sunglasses while using the device,
provided they are not too dark to allow you to see where you are placing the device
on your skin.

Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on the tip of the breasts or the genital organs

(male or female).

Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on any part of the body where you might later

want hair.

Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on nose or ear hair.
Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover for anything but depilation.
Never point the application surface of the Lumilisse Hair Remover to emit a light pulse

into open space. Always ensure you point the treatment surface of the device at the
skin and make sure it is in full contact with your skin before releasing a pulse.

Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on a material other than skin.
Never use the Lumilisse Hair Remover in an environment where a spark could cause

an explosion, such as near a gas leak.

Caution: Surfaces are hot. Do not touch the lens or application window with your

fi ngers. Also ensure you keep the application surface clean. See point 7.2 on cleaning
and maintenance of your Lumilisse Hair Remover.

Never use fl ammable liquids, like alcohol (including perfume, deodorant or any other

preparation containing alcohol) or acetone on your skin before using the Lumilisse
Hair Remover.

Using your Lumilisse Hair Remover may cause a temporary change in pigmentation

(see “Warnings” and “Possible Side Eff ects”).
