Backing Up
To select an object for backing up, click the green box to the left of the object
name. (The box is filled when the object is selected.) Refer to the
BrightStor
ARCserve Backup for Windows Administrator Guide for more information on
selecting objects.
Resubmitting Scheduled Jobs
If you submit a scheduled backup of an organization or site, you must resubmit
the job if any changes are made to the organization or site (for example, if servers
are added or removed from a site). BrightStor ARCserve Backup does not
recognize servers or sites that have changed since the job was submitted.
Backing Up
To
back up is to create a copy of a database or database objects on storage media.
Backups are performed by BrightStor ARCserve Backup. The Backup Agent is
an optional feature that allows BrightStor ARCserve Backup to back up
Microsoft Exchange Server databases or database objects, while still online,
either locally or remotely. With the Backup Agent, you can back up the
following:
Directory database—Contains information about public resources and
users, such as distribution lists, servers, and messaging infrastructure.
■
■
Information Store database—Consists of Public and Private folders. It
provides server-based storage, which contains user mailboxes and public
folders. It also provides for storage limits on public folders and enforces
security. The Public and Private folders can be restored separately, but they
cannot be backed up separately.
The following files are backed up for each database:
