Restore Overview
Appendix C: Backup and Recovery Best Practices 125
For any type of restore operation, you can use the following restore methods:
■
Restore by Tree:
This option displays a tree of the computers and objects
backed up by CA ARCserve Backup. To run a restore operation, expand the
appropriate computers and instances to select the databases you want to
restore. The databases are from the most recent backup sessions. This
option is selected by default.
■
Restore by Session:
This option displays a list of media you have used
when backing up with CA ARCserve Backup. To run a restore operation,
expand the media containing the backup you want, and select the session
containing the specific database or log session you want to restore.
Note:
CA ARCserve Backup supports only Restore by Tree and Restore by
Session for Microsoft SQL Server databases.
Checklists for Dependencies, by Type
Using the Restore by Tree or Restore by Session method, you can perform
various types of restores. Each type has specific dependencies and requirements
for a successful restore. The following tables organize the requirements
according to restore type.
Database Restore Dependency Checklist
A Database Restore restores and recovers the database in its entirety. You can
restore a database from a Database Full, Database Differential, Partial Full or
Partial Differential Backup.
