Configuring Your System

6-26 AlphaServer 1000A Rackmount Owner’s Guide

Avoid bending the SCSI cable when folding it.

____________________________________________________________

Insert the end of the SCSI cable (17-04378-01) in its system board connector.

Connect the SCSI cable CD-ROM drive connector to the rear of the CD-ROM drive
using a 50-pin adapter cable (17-04009-01).

Connect the cable to the rear of the tape drive using a 50-pin adapter cable
(17-04009-01), if one is installed.

Connect the cable to the fixed hard drives. A maximum of three drives can be
installed.

Single-Controller SCSI Configuration

In the single-controller configuration shown in Figure 6-17, the three fixed hard drives are
run from the system board SCSI controller. The system reserves SCSI ID numbers for the
CD-ROM drive (ID 4) and the tape drive (ID 5).
