SNMP
The PBXgateway and Remote support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) for
ease of monitoring multiple installations. A third party software application is required to
be operating on the network administrator’s workstation in order to monitor and review the
SNMP traps.
SNMP:
The network management architecture used for managing virtually any
network type including TCP/IP, IPX and others. SNMP operates on top of the Internet
Protocol and its purpose for the PBXgateway and Remote is to flag error or failure
conditions and automatically notify the administrator.
Trap:
The SNMP mechanism permitting a device to send an alarm to the
administrator’s work station.
MIB:
The administrator must load an MIB file (Management Information Base) to
properly monitor the PBXgateway and/or the Remote. This file contains numerous
tables (see next page) based on the Management Console status tables and provides
information such as error counts and the on/off status of the units.
