Essential IP Parameters – Telnet, Rlogin and FTP
Prior to the users making any phone calls or the administrator having remote access to
the PBXgateway and Remote the system IP parameters must be configured. The
following is a detailed description of the programming areas that would be considered
“essential” to the proper operation of the PBXgateway and Remote. The PBXgateway
Telnet, Rlogin and FTP configuration screen is shown below:
Path:
Gateway->Configuration->IP->LAN

1.
Telnet
– The PBXgateway can be accessed remotely by use of a standard Telnet
session. By default Telnet is enabled. See
Telnet Connection
for more information.
2.
Rlogin
– The Remote management interface can also be accessed through the
PBXgateway’s Remote Login feature with Rlogin enabled. The Remote Login feature
is found here:
Path:
Gateway->Remote Login. For security reasons this feature is
disabled on default.
3.
FTP
– File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is used primarily during the upgrade process. For
security reasons this feature is disabled on default. FTP should remain disabled when
not upgrading a unit or unless otherwise instructed to by a Customer Support
representative.
An administrator’s password should be set to restrict unauthorized access to the
PBXgateway. Go to the
Administrator Password
section for details. If the password is lost
or forgotten please contact a customer support representative at 1-877-248-3587 or
to reset the unit’s password. Individual port passwords are not
affected.
