IP Dual Port PBXgateway and Remote System Administrator’s Guide
54
Advanced Call Suspend Setup
The Call Suspend feature allows for the administrator to reduce IP traffic across the
network by bringing down the IP connection temporarily when all ports are inactive for a
configurable period of time. When the Timeout value is reached, the phones will display
“Suspended” and Management Console (MC) will show the port status as “Call
Suspended” signifying that they are in the Call Suspend mode. Whenever a user goes off-
hook or an incoming call occurs, the IP connection is restored and all phones are taken
out of Call Suspend mode. The Call Suspend screen is shown below:

Remote->Configuration->Connect->RVP_Over_IP->Port_1 (and Port_2) -
>Call_Suspend

1. Setting Call Suspend to
Enabled
– When set to “Enabled” the Remote will enter the
Call Suspend mode at the configured time.
2. Entering
the
Timeout
value – A timeout can be configured to allow the administrator
to set when the ports will fall in to Call Suspend. Typically, at the end of the business
day. The timeout can be set for between 5 and 240 minutes.
3. Configuring
the
Minimum Connect Time
– A minimum connect time can also be
programmed to ensure that the connection to the PBXgateway will remain connected
for a specified period of time prior to falling in to Call Suspend mode. The minimum
connect time can be set for between 0 and 240 minutes.
Timeout vs. Minimum Connect Time:
For example, when the user initially connects by pressing “1” on the digital set connected
to the Remote the port will fall into Call Suspend mode at the Minimum Connect Time. If,
however, the user invokes or receives a call that is longer that the Minimum Connect Time
value the port will fall into Call Suspend mode at the Timeout value.
4. Setting
for
Remote Wakeup Only
- If enabled, only activity at the Remote side will
wake the system from Call Suspend (going offhook, for example). This ensures that
any calls placed after hours to the corporate office will not cause the IP link to be re-
established.
