The Cisco SFS 3504 Server Switch provides a managed IB switch card, with internal IB connections to
I/O gateway slots. It consists of an IB switch card, dual hot-swappable redundant AC power-fan
modules, and support from one to four gateway cards. These modules are available in a 4RU form factor
with power supplies on the rear and all data connections on the front side.
The IB switch card and modules are all field replaceable.
Note
If any slot is vacant on the Cisco SFS 3504 Server Switch, a blanking panel is required in the slot to
ensure proper air flow and cooling of the system.
InfiniBand Switch Card
The IB switch card connects the Cisco SFS 3504 Server Switch to IB-attached hosts and other switches
in the IB network. The 12-port IB switch expansion module provides 12 DDR IB ports with 3.3v
powered interfaces. It is compliant with IBTA 1.1 and 1.2 standards. The ports drive up to 8 meters
(maximum) of Cisco-approved passive copper cable. The module also has an RS-232 serial port and a
10/100 Base-T management Ethernet port (see
Figure 1-5
). The Product ID number for the IB switch
card is SFS-3504-SWC.
