This scenario shows that for 2-Mpbs links with high-traffic demand, Cisco 10000 series routers cannot
obtain maximum bundle scaling. Therefore, we recommend that the total number of 2mbps links not
exceed 4080.
Restrictions and Limitations for MLP on LNS
In Cisco IOS Release 12.2(33)SB, the MLP on LNS feature has the following restrictions:
•
The MLP on LNS feature does not include SSO support.
•
Bundles are only supported with Gigabit Ethernet and ATM as the trunk between the LAC and LNS.
•
Because the bandwidth of the member link is received from the LAC through the Connect speed
AV-Pair, L2TP sessions on a single link bundle are provisioned at the logical layer (HQF). The L2TP
sessions on a multi-member MLP bundle are provisioned as physical links and are bundled at the
physical layer (HQF). For multi-member bundles, the bandwidth received through the AV-Pair
carves out the bandwidth from the physical/tunnel interface to reserve it for MLP.
•
Oversubscription is not supported for MLP bundled L2TP members or on the underlying tunnel
interface.
•
All member L2TP sessions within the same bundle belong to the same physical interface and the
same L2TP tunnel.
•
QoS on multiple member MLP bundles is not supported. If any MLPoLNS bundles are negotiated
on the Gigabit Ethernet or ATM VC interface, applying a service policy on the Gigabit Ethernet or
ATM VC tunnel interface is also not supported.
•
Each member link in a bundle has the same speed. We do not recommend or support configuring
member links of different speeds.
•
Fragmentation and interleaving on MLP on LNS bundles in the downstream direction are not
supported.
•
Locally terminated member links and member links forwarded from the LAC are not supported
within the same bundle (although the setup is not prevented).
•
Sessions from different tunnels are not allowed to join the same bundle. All members of a bundle
must be part of the same L2TP tunnel and share the same physical interface.
•
Multiclass MLP is not supported for MLP on LNS bundles.
•
When one additional toaster phase per fragment is added to the MLP on LNS dequeue process,
performance is impacted.
•
Multilink interface based bundles for MLP on LNS are not supported.
