Wiring
Connect the RS485 Cable from the analyzer to the RS485 terminals shown in the following diagram.
Ensure shielding is connected to ground at one end. The PC6 Particle Counter may connect to
different RS485 inputs based on the instrument’s setup. Please see the Menu option below for wiring
instructions for the RS485 wiring in the HydroAct 4. Select “Menu” then select the appropriate PC6
Particle Counter menu tile. To see an image of where the RS485 cable should be connected within the
HydroAct 4 select:

The PC6 Particle Counter sensor requires input power in the range of 9 to 36 VDC. Most commonly
the sensor will be connected to the HydroAct 4 auxillary power source. The power connection is
shown in the following diagram. When power to the sensor is to be provided by the HydroAct 4, the
appropriate voltage is available on connectors J18, J19 and J20 within the HydroAct 4. The connectors
are labeled VAUX and GND.
Note regarding sensor card slot position:
If the analyzer is only equipped to work with a single sensor (as evident by there only being one
plugin card installed in slots 1 and slots 2 to 4 being empty) then the RS-485 sensor input card for
the sensor will be in the “Slot #1” position as shown in this diagram. Otherwise, if additional plugin
cards are installed in slots 2 to 4 it will be necessary to power up the HydroAct 4 and check the sensor
