2.6.1 Securing the accelerometer
Make sure that the AC033 accelerometer is properly connected.
You need to know the position of the person to be evaluated:
If the person is on foot on a vibrating surface, the measurement should be taken in the place
where he/she rests his/her foot most frequently; the accelerometer should be placed as close
as possible to the contact area.
If the person is lying down (on a vibrating surface), the measurement should be taken in the
place where his/her back rests; the accelerometer should be placed as close as possible to
the contact area.
When the person is seated, there are three important measuring points: the feet, the seat
and the backrest. It is important that there be a close contact between the accelerometer and
the human body.
When the accelerometer is placed in position, the orientation of the coordinate axes should
be observed. The Y axis corresponds to the line that joins both shoulders. The X axis
corresponds to the chest
– back line and the Z axis to the head - foot line.
The orientation of the axes is defined with regard to the body, not the orientation in space. It
is important to select the correct orientation of the accelerometer:
backrest
or
seated (see 2.6.3).
