Maintenance (continued)
Factory Software Installation Process
(For Grindmaster Cecilware technician reference
only)
Boot Loader Install
1. Turn off power to dispenser.
2. Remove access panel on back side of door (4
screws).
3. Locate PGM/DEBUG module on Kestrel board
(Control Board) (Slightly left and slightly above
center). There is a white button next to it.
4. Plug in Boot Loader device, aligning red stripe with
Pin 1 (top right as you are looking at board).
5. Turn on power to dispenser.
6. Press and release UP arrow on Boot Loader.
7. Wait until steady green light on pass/fail on Boot
Loader. Also red and green lights will oscillate on
board.
8. Turn off power to dispenser.
9. Push and hold PRGM button which is located on
Kestrel board just to the right of the PGM/DEBUG
module. Turn on power to unit. Hold button in until
lights comes on. Leave USB drive in place until red
and green lights on board flash.
10. Turn off power to dispenser.
11. Remove USB drive.
12. Turn on power to dispenser.
Download file explorer
1. Using USB keyboard with touchpad or mouse,
connect to local Wi-Fi using Android Apps + Settings
+ Wi-Fi. Use the Wi-Fi USB Port. (See previous
instructions
Wi-Fi Connection, To change the Wi-
Fi password
for more detail.)
2. Set up email address.
3. Go to Google Play Store. Sign in with email address.
4. Search (using hourglass shape at top right corner)
for ES File Explorer File Manager.
5. Install ES File Explorer File Manager.
6. Turn off power to dispenser.
Configure Android board
1. Temporarily remove Wi-Fi dongle from a USB port
on the board (appearance is similar to a cordless
mouse dongle).
2. Attach USB drive to that open USB port.
3. Open ES File Explorer. Navigate to USB drive which
is called Udisk.
4. Open Grindmaster Client install folder. Double click
to install.
5. Enter information in form, including MAC address
of Kitchen Brains KA box.
6. Turn off power to unit, remove USB drive, reinstall
Wi-Fi dongle and reinstall panel.
Tank control board programming
1. Turn off power to dispenser.
2. Remove drain pan.
3. Remove backsplash (2 screws).
4. Locate cube in center of unit on bottom. On the
front side of the cube is the Tank Control Board. On
that board is a module labeled ISP HEADER.
5. Connect Tank control board programmer to ISP
HEADER, aligning red stripe to pin 1 which is
located at top right corner.
6. Turn on power to dispenser.
7. Push and release button on programmer. A light on
the board will flash green.
8. When the light is solid green and the red display
reads “DRY”, power off dispenser and remove
programmer. Leave backsplash removed.
IO Board flashing/programming
1. Turn off power to dispenser.
2. Remove side panels.
3. Locate IO boards. The board on the left side on the
cube is IO Board “0”. It controls dispenser heads 1,
2, and 3. The board on the right side of the cube is
IO board “1”. It controls heads 4 and 5. It has a
jumper installed which makes it board “1”. Very
near IO board “1” is the power supply with heat
sinks attached.
The heat sinks are live
electrically and will shock if touched while
power is on.
4. Connect Programmer to ISP HEADER on IO Board
“0”, aligning red stripe with pin 1 (bottom left
corner).
5. Turn on power to dispenser.
6. A light will flash red on programmer then solid
green when completed.
7. Turn off power to dispenser.
8. Remove programmer.
9. Repeat process with IO Board “1”,
taking extreme
care that power is turned off afterwards
.
10. Replace side panels and splashguard.
11. Replace drip tray.
12. Power on dispenser. Fault code OUT OF SERVICE
FAULT 06 should appear on dispense buttons
indicating that the water tank is empty. (If
backsplash is still removed, error visible on tank
control board will state “Er1”.)

Certain internal parts are
intentionally not grounded and may present a risk of
electric shock only during servicing. Service Personnel
– Do not contact the following parts while the
appliance is energized: power supply.
