5. Connection of meter with serial interface to the function port “Multi”:
A meter with a serial interface can be connected to the FA-20’s function port “Multi” by
terminals 9-12. See installation instructions for the specific meter. The cable should have an
outside diameter of 4.5 mm ± 0.5 mm in order to secure a maximum of pull relief.
In absence of a common denominator for how the meters are to be connected to the
functional port “Multi” a connection diagram is subsequently shown for most types of meters
that FA-20 can interface:
Note.:
The FA-20´s functional port “Multi” is unique because with the same hardware it can read a
row of different meter types, which each uses different communication interfaces, which
separates each other in both hardware and software. To set up FA-20´s functional port “Multi”
you select the software driver you want to use by sending FA-20 a SMS.
FA-20 with firmware 1.30 or later contains as minimum the following software drivers:
- KMX (handles various Multical with ”3-wire data module”” – i.e. Multical III, 66C,
Compact, 401 and 601 – but only 601 if 601 is mounted with a compatibility module).
- Dancontrol DC22 gas meter.
- Flonidan Gallus/Uniflo
- Kamstrup Unigas 61E
- KM6 (handles Multical 601 and 801 with data base” and without compatibility module).
- Max M-bus (handles a large amount of wired M-bus meter types).
Selecting driver is done by simple SMS. Send a text SMS to FA-20 with following
content (Remember CAPITAL LETTERS):
- NNNND07 activates meter driver Kamstrup KMX.
- NNNND20 activates meter driver Dancontrol DC22.
- NNNND24 activates meter driver Flonidan Gallus/uniflo.
- NNNND25 activates meter driver Kamstrup Unigas 61E.
- NNNND28 activates meter driver Kamstrup genuine Multical 601/801protokol.
- NNNND29 activates meter driver Max M-bus (M-bus meters).
FA-20 is as a standard delivered with driver no. 29 “Max M-bus” activated.
NB. NNNN is the default password, which can be changed via the IT system.
