Safety rules - Fuel system maintenance
Fuel vapors are explosive and flammable. Do not smoke while handling fuel. Keep fuel away from flames or sparks.
Turn off the engine and remove the key before servicing. Always work in a well-ventilated area. Clean up spilled fuel
immediately.
Improper use of solvents can result in fire or explosion. Do not use gasoline or low flash point solvents to clean the
fuel filter and/or the fuel pump. Clean only in a well-ventilated area away from sources of sparks or flame, including
any appliances with a pilot light.
Drain the fuel-water separator into a suitable container and dispose of the contents in accordance with local environ-
mental regulations.
Diesel fuel escaping under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury. Do not use your hand to check
for leaks. Use a piece of cardboard or paper to search for leaks. Wear protective gloves and eye protection. If any
fluid makes contact with the skin, seek medical attention immediately to ensure gangrene does not form.
