Charging the rechargeable battery
2
First connect the Carrera RC rechargeable bat-
tery to the battery charger supplied. The connec-
tion terminals between the battery and the charg-
er are designed to prevent connection with the
wrong polarity. Connect the charger to a power
source.
When the battery is properly connected and
charging normally, the red LED is constantly lit.
Once the battery is fully charged, the red LED
switches to green. The battery can now be dis-
connected and installed in the Carrera RC boat.
The boat is now ready for use.
After use, the battery must be allowed to cool
down for at least 20 minutes before it can be
fully recharged. Failure to observe this pause may
damage the battery.
Always recharge the battery immediately after
use to prevent its becoming deep discharged.
Recharge the battery occasionally (suggested
every 2-3 months). Failure to treat the battery
as described above can lead to its becoming
defective. Rechargeable batteries are only to
be charged by adults.
Installing the rechargeable battery
3
Using a screwdriver, remove the cover of the bat-
tery compartment in the Carrera RC boat.
4
Connect the end of the cable from the Carrera RC
boat with the charged battery. Put the battery in
place.
Replace the compartment cover using a screw-
driver.
Inserting the 9 V block battery
5
Unscrew the cover of the battery compartment in
the controller and insert the 9 V block battery.
6
When inserting the 9 V block battery, ensure that
the polarity is correct. Different types of batteries
or new and used batteries are not to be mixed.
Replace the cover using a screwdriver.
Now you can drive the boat
7
The Carrera RC boat and the controller are con-
nected with each other at the factory. Should
there be any communication problems at the start
between the Carrera RC vehicle and the control-
ler, please carry out a reconnection.
Switch the car on.
8
Press the “Binding” button on the back of the con-
troller and hold it down while switching on (A).
The LED on the controller begins to flash.
9
After a few seconds if binding is successful, the
LEDs on the car and the controller will light again
continuously.
Let’s practise!
10
Caution: this boat can reach speeds up to
20 km/h.
When first starting, be very careful when operat-
ing the gas pedal. Practice running slowly for at
least two to three full charges of the battery before
you start practising faster manoeuvres.
Note:
when the controller remains unused for
more than 5 minutes, it switches automatically into
“sleep” mode to avoid wasting power in the con-
troller’s 9 V battery.
This means the boat receives no more radio sig-
nals and behaves as described under point 15
“Range control”.
• Bring the boat back to the bank after about
20 minutes to change the battery
• Never run more than 2 batteries down one
after the other. After running down two fully-
charged batteries, a pause in running for at
least 20 minutes is essential.
• Avoid constant motor operation.
• If the model switches itself off several times
in quick succession, the battery is
dead. Please recharge the battery.
• To switch off after use, follow the steps in
the reverse order.
• After use, remove or disconnect the battery.
• Clean the Carrera RC boat after the running
session.
• Always keep the Carrera RC battery stored
outside the boat.
Controller functions
11
You can steer the model in any direction using the
joysticks:
Joystick on left:
forwards/backwards
Joystick on right:
left/right
The joysticks are removable.
12
Alternatively, the model can be controlled with the
rockers. The joysticks can be stored in the special
compartment at the back of the controller.
13
Thanks to 2.4 GHz technology, up to 16 boats can
be operated on one course at the same time. This
is possible even without harmonising frequencies
between the racing drivers.
14
Attach the lanyard to the eyelet on the controller
and let the controller hang from your neck. Then
plug the microphone in to the controller and fasten
it to the carrying strap with the clip.
Caution! Danger of strangulation!
15
Range control
When it goes beyond the range of the radio fre-
quency, or the controller is not touched for over 5
minutes, the boat sails in small but ever-increasing
circles to try to regain the radio frequency range.
Make sure you operate the controller once if nec-
essary to deactivate the “sleep” mode. See 10.
„Let‘s get some practice“.
Boat‘s horn / Loudspeaker
16
The boat‘s horn is sounded when you press the
left-hand button on the controller.
17
You can make an announcement over the boat’s
loudspeaker by pressing the right-hand button on
the controller while speaking into the microphone.
Acoustic battery condition moni-
toring
18
When the boat battery is almost empty,
the status LED next to the ON/OFF-switch
will start to flash regularly. The boat’s horn
sounds several times, and the boat stops
briefly. Then the boat will restart, and travel at
only about 40 % of its normal speed until the
battery’s final voltage is reached.
Please head for the shore immediately and
change the battery.
Troubleshooting
Problem
Boat does not move
Cause:
Either the switch on the controller or the boat is set
to OFF.
Solution:
Switch on
Cause:
There is no rechargeable battery in the boat or the
battery is too weak.
Solution:
Insert charged battery
Cause:
Signal note is emitted - weak battery in the controller
or in the model.
Solution:
Insert new battery or recharged battery.
Cause:
The overheat protection has caused the boat’s motor
to cut out due to excess temperature.
Solution:
Switch off the receiver.
Leave the RC boat to cool down for approx. 30 minutes.
Cause:
The battery or rechargeable battery in the transmitter
or boat is too weak.
Solution:
Insert new battery or recharged battery.
Cause:
The contacts of the water sensor are dirty.
Solution:
Please clean the water sensor contacts regularly
with tap water and a little vinegar-based cleaner.
Cause:
The boat is very warm.
Solution:
Allow the RC boat to cool down for about 30 min-
utes.
Cause:
The controller is possibly not correctly connected
with the receiver in the model.
Solution:
Establish contact between model and controller
as described under “Now you can drive the boat”.
Problem
Boat cannot be controlled
Cause:
Boat starts moving unintentionally..
Solution:
First switch on the boat, then the controller.
Solution:
Please replace the batteries in the controller or
switch the controller on.
