Check the turnbuckle thread: the males with right and left thread must be screwed into the
females with the same number of turns and for a sufficient length to ensure the hold, that is a
distance at least equal to the diameter; check the fixing of the security split pins to avoid tearing
the sails.
•
Make sure that the padding of the spreaders ends is always in good condition to avoid tearing
the sails.
•
Check periodically that there are no water infiltrations from the gasket of the mast partner on
the deck.
Mast maintenance
•
Wash frequently with fresh water the turnbuckles and the halyards lead-blocks.
•
Never cover the turnbuckles with plastic pipes or adhesive tape since they prevent ventilation.
