A s a g eneral rule, do not u s e exten s ion cord s . U s in g an exten s ion cord may re s ult in
a fire or electrical s hock. If an exten s ion cord mu s t be u s ed, however, u s e one rated
for volta g e s of 220 - 240 V AC and over, untie the cord bindin g , and in s ert the power
plu g completely into the exten s ion cord outlet to en s ure a firm connection between
the power cord and the exten s ion cord.

Do not u s e power s upplie s with volta g e s other than tho s e s pecified herein, a s thi s
may re s ult in a fire or electrical s hock.

Alway s g ra s p the power plu g when di s connectin g the power cord. Pullin g on the
power cord may expo s e or s nap the core wire, or otherwi s e dama g e the power cord. If
the power cord i s dama g ed, thi s could cau s e current to leak, re s ultin g in a fire or
electrical s hock.
IMPORTANT
Leave sufficient space around the power plug so that it can be unplugged easily. If objects
are placed around the power plug, you will be unable to unplug it in an emergency.
Handling
WARNING

Do not attempt to di s a ss emble or modify the machine. There are hi g h-temperature
and hi g h-volta g e component s in s ide the machine which may re s ult in a fire or
electrical s hock.

If the machine make s s tran g e noi s e s , or g ive s off s moke, heat, or s tran g e s mell s ,
immediately turn OFF the main power s witch, and di s connect the power cord from
the power outlet. Then, contact your local authorized Canon dealer. Continued u s e of
the machine in thi s condition may re s ult in a fire or electrical s hock.

Do not u s e hi g hly flammable s pray s near the machine. If g a s from the s e s pray s
come s into contact with the electrical component s in s ide the machine, it may re s ult
in a fire or electrical s hock.

To avoid dama g e to the power cord and creatin g a fire hazard, alway s turn OFF the
main power s witch, and unplu g the interface cable when movin g the machine.
Otherwi s e, the power cord or interface cable may be dama g ed, re s ultin g in a fire or
electrical s hock.

Make s ure that the power plu g i s firmly in s erted into the power outlet if the machine
wa s moved. Do not u s e the machine while the connection i s loo s e, a s doin g s o may
cau s e a fire.

Do not drop paper clip s , s taple s , or other metal object s in s ide the machine. Al s o, do
not s pill water, liquid s , or flammable s ub s tance s (alcohol, benzene, paint thinner,
etc.) in s ide the machine. If the s e item s come into contact with a hi g h-volta g e area
in s ide the machine, it may re s ult in a fire or electrical s hock. If the s e item s are
dropped or s pilled in s ide the machine, immediately turn OFF the main power s witch,
and di s connect the power cord from the power outlet. Then, contact your local
authorized Canon dealer.
