6 - MAINTENANCE
6.2 Special maintenance
6.2.1 General
Before any maintenance operation:
•
Wear protective gloves.
•
Put the switch (18) in OFF position.
•
Disconnect the compressed air hose.
WARNING!
•
All the maintenance operations have to be carried out keeping the chain brake activated.
•
Any special maintenance operation shall be performed in a
CAMPAGNOLA
S.r.l. Authorised Service Point.
These are the centres, indicated by the Sales Staff of CAMPAGNOLA S.r.l., which are authorized to repair the products.
6.2.2 Cleaning the valve (16)
•
Unscrew the valve tap (16).
•
Remove the valve carefully.
•
Check the seal and replace it even if only slightly worn out.
•
Blow compressed air onto the stem and the seat of the valve, then assemble it again by following the operations in reverse.
6.2.3 Cleaning the chain bar and the lubrication holes
Clean these parts often, especially before using the tool.
•
Remove the chain (11) and clean its drive.
•
Clean the lubrication holes.
6.2.4 Cleaning the inertial chain brake
•
Remove the front protection (13) and unscrew the two screws (12).
•
Remove all the cutting residues by blowing compressed air.
•
Assemble the front protection (13) again by carrying out the same operations in reverse.
6.2.5 Replacing the chain brake
•
Remove the front protection (13) and unscrew the screw (29) and the two screws (12).
•
Unscrew the brake pin (31).
•
Unscrew the nut (14) and loosen the chain bar (10) by turning the screw (33) anti-clockwise.
•
Remove the chain (11).
•
Replace the brake spring (28) and then assemble the unit again carrying out the same operations in reverse. Check the
chain moving direction (30).
6.2.6 Replacing the chain locking pin
•
Remove the screw (35), replace the chain locking pin (34) and assemble the new one.
6.2.7 Sharpening the chain
WARNING!
•
Wear protective gloves.
•
Follow the manufacturer’s instruction for the chain sharpening and maintenance operations. Decreasing the
height of the depth adjusting device could mean increasing the kickback risk.
•
Each 3 or 4 chain sharpening operations check and, if necessary, file the depth adjusting device by means of a flat
file, then round its upper point.
