NOTE
Pin #11 is used to indicate when the printer is ready to receive data. In Okidata
printers, the signal name is "Supervisory Send Data," it may also be referred to
as "Printer Busy." The printer sets this signal HIGH to indicate the print
buffer is full and to stop sending data. A different pin number and signal must
be substituted for printers without this signal. Also, the polarity of the signal
must be correct (busy when HIGH) or selectable by an internal switch in the
printer.
Printer Troubleshooting
Verify the following if the printer does not print after being set up according to the above
procedure.
1. Verify that printer Select light is On.
2. Verify that the cable is wired according to the wiring diagram above.
3. Turn power off and then on after making switch changes on the printer. This enables the
printer to read the new switch settings.
4. Verify in the printer manual that pin 11 is used by the printer to control data and the
polarity is correct.
5. If tester stays in the printing mode, the polarity of SSD could be incorrect. Disconnect
pin 11 and verify printing.
6. If data is printed at random but most of the data is correct, the data control signal into pin
11 of the tester is incorrect. Refer to printer manual.
7. Verify that both the printer and the tester baud rates are set to 1200.
