1) DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM

ROLLY is an electric motor, specially studied to motorize the opening and
closing movements of rolling shutters and sun curtains equipped with a limit
switch adjustment function. The installation is carried out by introducing
the motor inside the coiler tube. ROLLY, in addition to special adaptors, is
complete with a complete series of accessories, such as electric control
units, radio transmitters, wind, light and rain detection devices, to optimise
its usage.

2) MAIN PARTS OF THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM

Figure 1 outlines the main dimensions.
A) Limit switch adjustment group.
B) Driving plug.
C) Fitting pin for adapter.

3) INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION

3.1) PRELIMINARY CHECKS

•  An improper installation can cause serious damage or injuries. Before

installation, carefully read these instructions and carry out all assembly
operations described.

•  The two fixing parts should be fitted parallel and at a distance suited to

permit the easy installation of the tube.

•  Do not force the motor during the hooking operation.
•  Assemble the motor so as to easily access the limit switch adjustment

group.

3.2) ASSEMBLY OF THE ACTUATOR

1. Insert the adaptor in the stop ring nut mating the groove with the reference
notch and push till they touch.
2. Fix the driving pulley on the motor pin until the stop pin clicks.
3. Insert the motor fully in the rolling tube.

NB: If you use tubes with a round form, the driving pulley must be fixed
to the tube, and the installation is to be paid by the person who installs
the system. For other tube sections the fixing is optional but strongly
recommended.
IMPORTANT:

Especially for outdoor curtain installation, pay utmost atten-

tion to positioning of the cable, to avoid possible water seepage inside the
motor (see Fig. 4).

CAUTION!

•  NEVER hammer the square pin.
•  Measure the distance K and mark the tube T accordingly before drilling

the hole for screw V so as to avert drilling the motor tube as well.

•  Insert the tube with the motor from the cap side. Check that the motor

is perfectly aligned, both horizontally and vertically, and mark the two
points for the fixing of bracket H.

•  After fitting bracket H, use pin P to fix the motor.

4) ELECTRICAL WIRING (FIG.5)

CAUTION!

More than one motor cannot be connected to the same control

baffle. More than one control baffles cannot be connected to the same motor
(fig.5). Connection cables to the motor are marked as follows:

YELLOW / GREEN

grounding

BLACK

direction phase 1

BROWN

direction phase 2

BLUE (GREY)

neutral

To reverse the rotational direction, invert the black wire with the brown one.
•  The general control panel wiring should be carried out with a two-pole

baffle as per law (opening distance between the contacts: 3 mm).

•  To prevent any danger or malfunction, the size of electrical control

components connected to the motor must be compatible with the
electrical features of the motor.

•  Means for disconnection must be incorporated in the fixed wiring in

accordance with the national installation standards.

•  All electric connections should comply with regulations in force.
•  The power supply cable can be replaced only by the manufacturer or an

authorized assistance centre. In the negative, the manufacturer’s warranty
will no longer apply.

•  The selectors inverting the direction of rotation of the motor must be

provided with mechanical interlocking.

•  If the power cable is outdoor, it should be protected by a conduit or other

device, as per regulations in force on electric device safety.

5) HOW TO ADJUST LIMIT SWITCH ITEMS

CAUTION!

To avert any damage or injuries, during adjustment of the limit

switches, the motor movement shall be stopped at any moment.
The adjustment procedure of the limit switches allows to customize the
opening and closing limit switches of the rolling shutter/sun curtain by acting
on the two adjustment screws controlling the “up” stroke (top stop) and the
“down” stroke (bottom stop).

IMPORTANT:

the “upward” and “downward” adjustment screws depend on

the motor position and the rotational direction.
Before proceeding, carefully check which figure (fig.6) is consistent with
your installation.
If the motor is assembled facing the inside (e.g. rolling shutter), refer to fig.6a
(left-side motor) or fig.6b (right-side motor).
If the motor is assembled facing the outside (e.g. sun curtain), refer to fig.6c
(left-side motor) or fig.6d (right-side motor).
Limit switch limits are preset at approximately 3 roller rotations (1 rotation
and a half in each direction).

5.1) HOW TO ADJUST THE “DOWN” STROKE

1) Activate the motor in the downward direction.
2) Wait for the motor stop due to the triggering of the down stroke limit

switch.

3) Always with powered motor, turn the adjustment screw corresponding

to the downward movement clockwise until reaching the desired stop
position.

5.2) HOW TO ADJUST THE “UP” STOKE

1) Turn the up limit switch a few rotations down (-)*
2) Activate the motor in the upward direction.
3) Wait for the motor stop due to the triggering of the up stroke limit switch.
4) Always with powered motor, turn the adjustment screw corresponding to

the upward movement clockwise until reaching the desired stop position

* This operation is necessary because if the motor is inserted with the shut-
ter completely raised, the opening limit switch point is found approximately
one rotation and a half beyond the maximum opening point. To therefore
see intervention of the opening limit switch, lower the intervention point of
the limit switch and then proceed to set it.

Notes

: If in doubt, refer to the two arrows printed on the side of the limit

switch adjustment screws.
The two opposite arrows indicate the two rotation directions of the motor;
the adjustment screw increases (+)  or decreases (-) the motor stroke in
the direction indicated by the arrow.

6) CHECKS ON THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEMS

Before activating the system, the following checks should be carefully
carried out:
•  Check that all components be firmly fitted.
•  Check that the power cable is not in contact with rotating elements and

cannot be hooked by live parts.

•  Check that the shutter/curtain winds up correctly in the coiler tube.
•  Check the correct operaton of control and safety devices, if provided.

CAUTION!

The good operation of the actuator is guaranteed only if the data

indicated in this booklet are complied with.
The manufacturer shall not be responsible for any damage caused by non-
fulfilment of technique, safety and installation good practice.

7) HOW TO INSTALL ACCESSORIES FOR THE MANUAL OPERATION

Various installation solutions are possible by using the following accessories
(Fig.7):
•  RO.CC/RO.CL Eyelet for manual operation, mounted under the casing.
•  ES.50 SD 90° Articulated joint, 90°, mounted on the front side of the

casing.

•  ES.50 SD 60° Articulated joint, 60°, mounted under the casing.

8) TROUBLESHOOTING AND POSSIBLE REMEDIES

8.1) THE MOTOR IS NOT WORKING

•  Electric connections are incorrect. Follow the wire diagram (fig.6).
•  The system is not powered. Reset the mains power supply.
•  The limit switch positions overlap. Repeat the adjustment procedure (as

per item 6).

8.2) THE MOTOR TURNS BUT THE CURTAIN/SHUTTER DOES NOT MOVE

•  The drive pulley is not correctly mounted. Repeat the installation

procedure (fig.3).

•  The adapter ring is not correctly mounted. Repeat the installation

procedure (fig.2).

•  The curtain/shutter is not hooked. Hook it to the coiler tube.

8.3) THE CURTAIN/SHUTTER DOES NOT KEEP TO THE LIMIT SWITCH PRESET POSITIONS

•  The limit switches are not corretcly preset. Repeat the adjustment

procedure (as per item 6).

•  The drive pulley is not correctly mounted. Repeat the installation

procedure (fig.3).

•  The adapter ring is not correctly mounted. Repeat the installation

procedure (fig.2).
