3. Remove the disk module as shown below.
Removing a disk module
CAUTION:
When removed from the chassis, the disk
modules are extremely sensitive to shock and
vibration. Even a slight jar can severely
damage them.
A
. Grasp disk module by
handle and pull it part
way out of chassis.

. Support drive with
free hand and pull it
out of chassis.

4. On the label on the top of the disk module, write the ID number for the
compartment (A2, for example) from which you removed the drive.
For the compartment ID numbers, refer to the drawing on page 4–1 or the slot
matrix, which you attached to the storage system when you installed it.
5. If you are
not
returning the failed disk module for repair immediately, store it in a
place where it will not be damaged.
If you are installing a replacement disk module immediately —
Go to the
“Installing a disk module” section (page 4–6).
If you are
not
installing a replacement disk module immediately —
Remove and
store the ESD wristband, and skip to the “Removing or installing a disk filler
module” section (page 4–7) to install a disk filler module in the empty slot.
