Maintenance and cleaning

The  spectral  measuring  head  is  mostly  maintenance-free.  How-
ever,  in  case  of  soiling  the  protective  glass,  the  tile  insert,  the
measuring  roller  and  the  traverse  bar  must  be  cleaned.  If  the
measuring results are faulty in any other way, have

BST

 perform

maintenance on the spectral measuring head.

The  spectral  measuring  head  automatically  performs  a
white  balance  at  regular  intervals.  During  this  process,
the  operating  noise  of  the  spectral  measuring  head  is
slightly increased. However, this does not affect the func-
tion of the spectral measuring head.

6.1

Cleaning

Severe soiling of the spectral measuring head, the tile insert or the
measuring  roller  can  prevent  correct  color  measurements  (signi-
ficant  difference  between  the  measuring  result  of  the  spectral
measuring head and the measuring result of a spectrometer). This
is  indicated  by  an  error  message  from  the  system.  In  this  case,
clean the spectral measuring head or the tile insert. Also regularly
clean  the  traverse  bar  to  ensure  unhindered  movement  of  the
spectral measuring head.

We  recommend  checking  the  spectral  measuring  head,
the tile insert and the measuring roller for soiling once a
week and cleaning them, if necessary.

 WARNING

Danger  caused  by  trapping  points  between  system  components
and guide rollers!

Observe  the  following  measures  to  avoid  the  danger.  Otherwise,
there is a risk of severe injury or even death.

Work on the spectral measuring head, on the camera or on the
traverse  bar  may  only  be  performed  when  the  machine  is  at
zero speed.

 CAUTION

Danger of crushing caused by motorized traverse bar!

There  is  a  danger  of  crushing  when  body  parts  enter  the  space
between  the  camera  unit/spectral  measuring  head  and  traverse
bar!

Prior to starting assembly, maintenance and cleaning work, isol-
ate the system and secure it against being switched on again.

Ensure that no body parts are within the hazard zone of the tra-
verse bar.
