Note for cULus approvals units: For devices using cable gland at field installation the following cable gland shall be used
- American IP67 cable gland for the aluminum housing and an American rated IP68 cable gland for the Stainless steel
and high temperature housings.

Selected associated apparatus must be third party listed as providing intrinsically safe circuits for the application.

The entity concept allows interconnection of intrinsically safe apparatus with associated apparatus when the conditions
shown in table 1 are true

Where the cable capacitance and inductance per foot are not known, the following values shall be used: Ccable = 60

H/ft. If Po of the associated apparatus is not known, it may be calculated using the formula Po =
(Voc * Isc)/4 = (Uo * Io)/4.
9.
The intrinsically safe device does not provide 500 V isolation with respect to earth. Associated apparatus used must be
galvanically isolated or dual channel shunt zener diode barriers with linear outputs used channel to channel.

Associated apparatus must be installed in accordance with its manufacturer's control drawing and Article 504 of the
National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) for installation in the United States, or Section 18 of the Canadian Electrical
Code for installations in Canada.

he resistance between Intrinsically safe ground and earth ground must be less than 1 ohm.

W
here multiple circuits extend from the same piece of intrinsically safe equipment to associated apparatus, they must be
installed in separate cables or in one cable having suitable insulation. Refer to Article 504.30(B) of the National
Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) and Instrument Society of America Recommended Practice ISA RP12.6 for installing
intrinsically safe equipment.
13.
Control equipment connected to barrier must not use or generate more than 250 V rms or dc with respect to earth.
14.
"nA": non-sparking/non-incendive / "tc": protection by enclosure "ec": increased
safety (Div 2 / Zone 2),
Install per National Electrical Code (NEC) or applicable
regional electrical code. Intrinsic safety barrier not required.
