4. Cable
Connections
4.1. Overview
This section describes the connection procedures for all cables required for
operating a 128 subscriber (single cage) system.
4.2. Ground
Note:
Use accepted methods for grounding (grounding screw, clamp, etc.)
when connecting ground cables.
Note:
Unless otherwise specified by local standards, we recommend the use
of 10 - 16 mm
2
cable for grounding purposes. Grounding cables
between cage and rack may be 6 mm
2
.
Note:
For all grounded items, ground resistance measured between the
main ground bar (MGB) connected to the ground array and the earth
mass must be according to local regulations and not more than 5
Ω
.
Note:
Safety/protective ground is through the rack and cage connections to
the ground.
Note:
Logic ground to the equipment is through the grounded (+) Vdc.
4.2.1. Racks
Each rack must be grounded to the grounding system of the building in which it is
located.
1
. Connect one end of the grounding cable to the building’s grounding system
2
. Connect the other end of the grounding cable to the rack ground bolt (for a
19in 44U Rack, see the installation instructions provided with the rack for
more information).
