1.5. Safety
Precautions
To avoid injury and prevent equipment damage, observe the following safety
precautions:
•
Do not move or ship equipment unless it is properly packed in its original
wrapping and shipping containers.
•
Observe ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures when handling card.
•
When connecting equipment to the DC voltage supplies, ensure correct
polarity.
•
Equipment service and maintenance should be undertaken only by trained
personnel.
•
Do not touch the backplane when system power is on.
•
To prevent damage by lightning, ground the system units and add lightning
protectors to any lines that exit the building.
•
Do not permit unqualified personnel to operate workstations used to manage
the system.
1.6. Inventory
Check
Before installing the system, ensure that all the equipment to be installed has
arrived. At each site, remove the lists from their envelopes. Take the equipment
out of the boxes, and check that all the parts appearing in the lists have in fact
arrived.
If anything is missing in the order, do not continue with the installation without
conferring with an experienced installation technician. Make sure that the missing
equipment is received from the supplier. If you are uncertain whether or not to
continue with the installation before the missing equipment arrives, please contact
the Customer Support department.
