5.3 Former
The former (or folding box) wraps the film
completely around the product Typically,
each different size product should have
its own former to produce an acceptable
package The wings of the former can also be
adjusted
5.4 Finseal
The finseal area consists of three pairs
of finwheels The finwheels grip the two
mating edges of the film that is wrapped
around the product by the former and seal
them together with heat and pressure At
the same time, the finwheels pull the film
from the backstand The film carries the
product through the former and to the
endseal crimpers
Typically, the first and third pair of
finwheels are cold, and the second pair
is heated The heated finwheel will open
whenever the Stop button is pushed to
avoid melting the film, and then close
when the Start button is pushed The cold
finwheels can be opened and closed with a
switch on the control panel
