Measure distance d between
upper edge of upper 5 and
lower fork bridge 6 .
Load motorcycle with driver.
With the assistance of a helper,
measure distance
d between
points 5 and 6 again and cal-
culate difference between mea-
sured values.
Adjustment of spring
preload dependent on
loading
1.3 in (33 mm) (Negative
spring displacement of front
wheel under load)
If you want to decrease the
difference (i.e. increase spring
preload), turn adjusting ring
2
in direction c .
If you want to increase the dif-
ference (reduce spring preload,
in other words), turn adjusting
ring
2 in direction b .
Tighten lock by tightening ad-
justing ring
1 in direction c with
tool from toolkit, while holding
adjusting ring
2 with second
tool from toolkit.
Locknut of spring base
adjustment on spring
plate
4 lb/ft (5 Nm)
Adjust the damping character-
istic to suit spring preload.
Position intake snorkel.
Push in both retaining hoops

until they audibly engage.
