Battery
Maintenance
The battery is completely maintenance-
free, which means that in moderate cli-
matic conditions the original acid filling
is sufficient for the battery's entire oper-
ating life.
Please consult BMW Service if
you have any questions about the
battery. The battery is completely main-
tenance-free, so the data below is for
information only.
<
Do not disconnect battery leads
while the engine is running, other-
wise excess current will destroy the
vehicle electronics system.
<
Recharging the battery
Always charge the battery in the car
with the engine stationary, using the
connections in the engine compart-
ment. For the positions of these con-
nections, see the section on jump start-
ing on page 145.
Dispose of old batteries only to an
authorised collecting point or
return them to a BMW Service. Batter-
ies filled with acid should be trans-
ported and stored upright. Protect bat-
teries against falling over when in
transit.
<
Fuses
The fuses are located behind a panel in
the glove box; the panel is held in place
by two quick-release latches.
Do not repair burnt out fuses or
replace them with fuses with dif-
ferent colours or ampere ratings, other-
wise overloaded electrical wires can
cause a fire in the vehicle.
