Door Frame Installations—U Shaped Door Frames, Only

If you will install on the door frame of your trailer, plan to use fasteners in your
installation, and must drill completely through to the exterior of the door frame, you
must use a sealant or sealing washers to protect against possible leaks.

Polyurethane Sealant Application
. We recommend installing the fasteners from
the outside of the trailer. This provides better sealing and protects the fastener’s
threads from continuous exposure to the weather.
If thread cutting screws are used, the door frame will hold the screws in place and
prevent the screws from turning when the locknuts are applied. Preventing the
screw from turning will allow lock nuts to be installed/removed from the inside of
the trailer—simplifying future maintenance. Apply the Polyurethane Sealant to the
rear of the fastener, prior to installation.
