every 40 hours of use as a preventative routine. It is also
recommended to clean the unit following the use of buffers.
If cleaning the unit does not cure the problems then consult
Biotage AB for further assistance.
Do not use solvents that contain additives when
performing the cleaning procedure.

the above conditions before leaving the detector
unattended.

4.3 Information for Service Personnel
Please note that the ELSD-1080 detector is double fused.
4.3.1 Heater PCB Fuses
There are 3 fuses fitted to the main control PCB, one to protect
each of the heater circuits.
FH 1 & 3: H 1A FF 250V
FH 2: TR5 2A T 250V
4.3.2 Light Source
The light source assembly is a Class 1 L.E.D product as defined
in IEC 60825-1 Ed 1.2. While this is non-hazardous it is
advisable to avoid staring into the beam.
4.4 Putting the Detector into Storage
If the detector is to be stored or not used for an extended
period of time it is recommended to follow the procedure
outlined below:
1. Flush the detector with a mixture of Acetone/Water
(50/50) at 1 ml/min for 15 minutes.
2. Allow the detector to cool to ambient temperature in
STANDBY mode with the gas supply still connected.
3. Tip the detector forwards to try and empty the solvent
within the nebulization chamber through the front waste
tube (i.e. into the bottle).
4. Pour 10 to 20 mL of acetone into the rear exhaust tube
to flush out the internal solvent trap, collecting any
overflow of acetone at the front solvent pipe.
5. Repeat step 3 to drain the acetone.
6. Disconnect the waste bottle.
