3. Attach main fan unit (to extension tube)
CAUTION: The main fan unit is heavy and contains sensitive
electronics. Use care when raising it.
CAUTION: Do not discard the main fan unit packaging and foam. It
should be used if the fan is ever moved or relocated.
Raise the main fan unit directly from its packaging to the extension tube.
Attach the lower mount to the extension tube using the Main Fan Unit
Hardware as shown.
Tighten the bolts to
10 ft·lb (13.6 N·m)
using a 5/16” Allen wrench and a
torque wrench with a 9/16” socket.
Main Fan Unit Hardware (BAF-Supplied):
a. (1) 3/8-16 x 3-1/2” Socket Head Cap Screw
b. (1) 3/8” x 3/4” OD x 1/2” Spacer
c. (2) 3/8” Flat Washer
d. (1) 3/8” Nylock Nut
Before attaching the main fan unit to the extension tube, route the power cable from motor through the extension tube
and upper mount.

2c. Secure safety cable (to wood frame)
WARNING: The safety cable is a crucial part of the fan and must be installed correctly. If you have any questions, call
Customer Service at 1-877-BIG-FANS.
Attach the safety clips to the mounting structure as shown. Secure the safety cable through the (2) safety cable attachment clips,
leaving as little slack as possible. Secure the loose ends with the Gripple as shown.
Note: Exact installation may differ depending on
the mounting method.
Safety Cable Hardware (BAF-Supplied):
a. (2) 5/16”-18 x 2-1/4” Bolt
b. (2) 5/16”-18 Nylock Nut
c. (4) 5/16” Flat Washer
