Operation
Refer to Figure 1 to identify the parts and
controls.

2. Connect the mains cable to the socket on the
rear of the unit then connect to the power
supply. Turn the power switch on the back of
the unit to ‘On’.

3. When the power is turned on, the door lock
will automatically release and the
open door symbol will be shown on
the display.
4. Ensure that the rotor is securely installed by
checking that the rotor nut is tightly fastened.
5. To change the rotor for one of a different
type, unscrew the rotor nut by turning
anti-clockwise and lift the rotor upwards out
of the chamber. Install the required rotor by
mounting the rotor on the shaft and replace
the rotor nut, screwing in a clockwise
direction to tighten.
6. Place the tubes symmetrically into the rotor,
using adaptors in the fixed angle rotor if
required for smaller tubes.
WARNING:
Ensure the load is weight balanced.
Imbalanced loads will significantly reduce the life
of the rotor and centrifuge and may cause
damage or injury.
NOTE:
Do not over-fill the tubes. Always use
caps on the tubes to prevent leakage and
generation of sample aerosols.
7. If using the fixed angle rotor, cover the tubes
with the rotor lid.
8.
Close the door and press down until it clicks
shut. Once locked, the closed door symbol
will be shown on the display.
9. If the chamber needs to be accessed, the
door lock can be released by pressing the
door
button on the control panel.
10. To set the speed of centrifugation, press the
rpm/rcf
button. The
rpm/rcf
button toggles
between the values for revolutions per
minute (rpm) and relative centrifugal force
(rcf). Adjust the speed up or down using the
up arrow
or
down arrow
buttons.
11. To set the time for the run, press the
time
button. Adjust the time in minutes up or
down using the
up arrow
or
down arrow
buttons. The minimum set time is 1 minute
and the maximum is 30 minutes.
