1. Caution: do not, under any circumstances, cover the grill
rack with aluminum foil, barbecue dishes or other items, as
the resulting build-up of heat could cause irreparable damage
to the grill.
2. Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any
attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any de-
fects. The power cord should be regularly examined for any
signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found,
the appliance must no longer be used.
3. During operation, the barbecue must be placed on a level,
heat-resistant surfaces, impervious to splashes and stains.
When grilling food with a high fat or moisture content,
splashes are not always avoidable.
4. When using the appliance, be careful not to position it next
to a wall or corner and ensure that no flammable materials are
stored near it.
5. Remember that the food with a high fat or moisture content
may tend to ignite.
6. Always fill the lower catch pan with water before you
switch on the appliance. The water helps to cool down the
catch pan, reduces the build-up of smoke, and also facilitates
cleaning.
7. Ensure that the water level in the catch pan is kept between
the ‘Min 0.3L’ and ‘Max 0.8L’ markings at all times during
use.

8. Always ensure that the water level in the catch pan is kept
above the ‘Min 0.3L’ mark. Water should be added before
cooking, while ensuring that it does not come into contact
with the heating element. Caution: do not pour water on the
heating element.
9. Before the grill is used, always check that the heating ele-
ment assembly is correctly positioned onto the main housing
body. A safety switch is built into the heating element assem-
bly. The BBQ grill will not function unless the heating ele-
ment assembly is properly positioned on the switch base
attached to the main housing body. There is a protruding peg
on the switch base that de-activates the safety cut-off switch
in the heating element assembly. They must be properly
aligned in order for the unit to heat. Also, do not connect the
grill to power until the catch pan has been filled with water.
10. The barbecue must be supervised at all times during oper-
ation. For reasons of safety, always keep it out of the reach of
children and people with diminished capacity.
11. Do not, under any circumstances, use charcoal or any
other solid or liquid fuel with the grill.
12. Always keep in mind that the housing surfaces as well as
the heating element become very hot during operation. Even
after the heating element is switched off, it must not be
touched until it has sufficiently cooled down-there is other-
wise a danger of severe burns.
13. To avoid the risk of electric shock, the heating element
and the power cord must not be immersed in liquid or even
allowed to come into contact with it.
14. Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot parts of the
appliance.
15. Always remove the plug from the power outlet in the case
of any malfunction, before cleaning and maintenance and
after use.
16. While extension cords are not recommended, if you do
need to use one, please make sure it’s rated at no less than the
power rating of the appliance. The use of an extension-lead
reel causes a loss of power, possibly combined with a subse-
quent heat build-up in the cable. It is therefore necessary to
unwind the cable completely if a cable reel is used.
17. Before carrying, transporting or storing the grill, ensure
that is has sufficiently cooled down. Pour out any remaining
water after use.
18. Ensure that the grill is not used or stored outdoors.
19. No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from
improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
20. This barbecue is designed for household use only and not
for commercial applications.
21. In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid
hazards, all repairs of electrical appliances must only be per-
formed by qualified personnel. Substantial dangers, including
electrical shock, burns and even death for the user are a possi-
bility when inappropriate repairs are made.
22. Should the barbecue fail to operate, or should it be dam-
aged, please stop using and contact the nearest authorized
service centre as special tools may be needed for its repair.
Never attempt to repair the barbecue yourself.
