3.17.16 COUPLING CAMSHAFTS

TO CYLINDER HEAD AND

PHASING

Couple the bearings to the camshafts and lubri

cate them with motor oil.

Widening the timing chain, insert the exhaust

camshaft upon whose gearwheel the timing

chain must be placed. It is advisable already in

this phase to position the shaft so that the re

ference notches

are horizontal with the cams

facing upwards according to the approximate

direction

Lift the camshaft slightly and move the bearing

so that it is flush with the shoulder

Having carried out the above-mentioned po

sitioning, rest the camshaft on the cylinder

head.
