5.6 OVERWINTERING THE SPRAYER
Sprayer must be overwintered in a clean condition (
4.6 or 4.7).
Rinse the entire circuit (with cleaning product).
Drain the tank.
Rinse with clean water.
Completely drain the circuit of liquid, ensuring that
the pump does not run for too long without water (2
minutes maximum).
Proceed with antifreeze protection by adding water
and the quantity of antifreeze product for the desired
level of protection.
In dosing the antifreeze, take into account the residual
volume contained in the circuit's pipes.
Run the pump at slow speed.
Operate all the valves in all positions (1 to 7) to protect
the pump, valves, regulation, filters and pipes.
Open the spray in order to supply the boom with
5.7 PROTECTION AGAINST OXIDISING AGENTS
Before spraying with liquid fertiliser, it is preferable to
fully protect the machine and the boom by spraying
an oily product to avoid any rusting or damage to
the paint.
Rinsing with a high-pressure jet wash after spraying
removes any trace of dust and oily product.
5.8 MAINTENANCE OF THE BOOM
After each use, rinse the piping thoroughly, by operating
the machine for several minutes with clear water.
Drain the piping, particularly if there is a risk of frost.
After cleaning the boom with a high-pressure cleaner,
grease the rods of the cylinders to avoid any risk of
corrosion.

Keep the hinges on the arms, the bearing surfaces of
the hinge cam and the uprights of the fixed frame
greased.
Touch up the paintwork as necessary.
5.9 CHECK THE TIGHTNESS OF THE NUTS
Upon reception and before each treatment season,
after 1 hour of use, after 1 day of work and periodically
from then on, check the tightness of the nuts:
- of the wheel pins,
- for fixing the axle,
- for fixing the tow coupling.
Once a year:
- Check the play in the bearings and their lubrication,
- Remove the dust from the brake assembly and
check the wear on the brake pads,
antifreeze. When the antifreeze product reaches the
nozzles, stop the spraying and then disengage the
power take-off.
Check the level of protection using an antifreeze
meter by taking a sample and adjusting the dose if
necessary.
Grease or oil the metal parts and joints which may rust.
Deoxidise the electric plug contacts (reference
BERTHOUD 765.065 KF F2 aerosol).
Clean the outside of the machine, repaint any mechanical
parts which have been bared (BERTHOUD reference
PEP0015 grey aerosol paint).
Store the machine out of sunlight and bad weather on
a stable, flat surface.
- Adjust the stroke of the brake lever,
- Change the pin on the stub axle with each
disassembly.
In case of intensive use, perform these operations
every 3 months.
Different tightening torques depending on the
capacities.
- 28-30, 35-37, 43-46:
300 to 320 Nm.
- 43-46 option 40km/h, 55-60, 67-71:
400 to 420 Nm.
