4.18 Waterfall Measurement
Waterfall measurement mode performs continuous analysis of auto power
spectrum and shows the data in a waterfall plot or intensity plot. This function
is very useful when you need to analyze the vibration of a speed varying
machine. Another very useful program for varying speed measurement is
“Order Tracking” analysis. Please contact Benstone Instruments for more
information about this application.
4.19 Step Control of Waterfall Measurements
AS you select Waterfall mode, please select the way of controlling
measurement steps.
Armed by RPM:
When the user chooses “Armed by RPM”, the program takes measurements
according to the rpm reading of tacho input.
Start RPM:
Set the rotation speed when the measurement begins.
Stop RPM:
Set the rotation speed when the measurement stops.
Delta RPM:
Set the increment of rotation speed for each measurement step.
For example, if the user sets the Start RPM, Stop RPM and Delta RPM as 400,
3200 and 50 respectively, that means the measurement will start as the
rotation speed reaches 400 RPM. And then it will take one more
measurement whenever the speed is increased by 5 rpm. At last the
measurement sequence will be stop when the rotation speed reaches 3200
rpm.
Note that some of the measurements may be skipped if the rotation speed
ramps too fast. To measure a start up process, set the Stop RPM greater
then the Start RPM. For a coast down process, the Start RPM must be
