Using the time shift function
When you watch TV, you can activate the time shift function, take a short break elsewhere and
then return to the TV without missing any part of the TV program.
When the time shift function is activated, the DVD Recorder starts recording TV signal to a
buffer area on the built-in hard disk while the TV signal keeps broadcasting. When you return
to the TV, you begin from the recorded data on the hard disk instead of the live TV program.
The time shift function is also available when you view video signal from other input sources.
1. Press the
Stop
or
Stop
button if a disc is
playing.
2. Press the
Input
button on the remote control to
select a desired input source. If you wish to use the
time shift function when you watch TV, select
’
TUNER
’.
3. Press the
Time shift
button. The video image
on the screen will become still. However, the video
signal keeps broadcasting and the DVD Recorder
starts recording the signal to the buffer area on the
built-in hard disk.
4. Press the
Play
or
Play
button to start
playing the recorded signal from the buffer area on
the built-in hard disk. You will continue from the
time when the time shift function is activated.
5. Press the
Display
button and the icon showing
the time shifted from when the broadcasting
actually takes place appears on-screen. Press the
Display
button again to remove the icon.
6. During time shift playback, you can press the
Reverse
button to perform reverse search, or
press the
Forward
button to perform forward
search.
7. To deactivate the time shift function and return to
live broadcasting, press the
Stop
or
Stop
button.
Note:
The maximum time allowed for time shift is 2 hours.
That is, the time shift buffer allows up to 2 hours of
recording for timeshift playback.
