Engine water intakes
- Keep the strainers on engine water intake seacocks as clean as
possible.
- Clean the strainer with a brush every time the boat is careened.
- Take care not to obstruct the strainers with anti-fouling paint.
Close the engine water intake seacocks if you are away from the
boat for any length of time.
Regularly check and clean the water
fi
lters (accessed via the ma-
chinery space). Make sure the covers are well screwed back again
after cleaning (risk of
fl
ooding).
The control panel combines all the engine function controls
(visual indicator lights, alarms, control levers...).

The engine water intake seacocks play a major
role in the engine operations.
It is imperative that they are open
before starting the engines
(risk of serious engine damage).
They are accessed via the machinery space.
