Furl the jib by pulling the furling line on the coachroof. When the jib is completely furled, there
should be two more turns of the furling line in the drum. In case clew of the jib is still sticking out,
detach the jib sheets and manually furl the jib.
Furler drum also shouldn't be full of furling line, because this will block complete opening of the jib.
To prevent tearing of the gennaker, tape all sharp pins, G-ring and shackles of the jib furler with
electrical tape.
GENNAKER
First 18 featured smart gennaker system with snuffer bag. Gennaker halyard and retriever line are
continuous where one end is fixed on the gennaker head and the other end is used as a retriever line.
Snuffer system makes hoisting and dropping of the gennaker much easier, but preparation is the key
point.
Before you start installing the gennaker, turn the boat so the wind will be blowing from the back,
preferably slightly from starboard.
Warning: don't set the gennaker on land in case the wind is exceeding 10 knots in gusts.
Gennaker installation
First, release both gennaker sheets from the cleats in the cockpit.
