RETRIEVING OF FIRST 18
Retrieving of the boat on the trailer consist of preparation of the boat and the trailer.
Trailer preparation:
a)
Remove the lights from the trailer and pull the electric cable all the way to the front.
Provisionally tie it for the mast support, high enough that the end connector will not get in
touch with the water.
b)
Check that the supporting leg of the trailer is not lifted over the top level of the aft cradle.
c)
Unwind the winch strap to the front cradle.
Boat preparation:
a)
Remove the safety pin
b)
Lift the keel completely
c)
Remove rudder blades from the rudder boxes. Do not leave them laying on the cockpit floor.
They'll likely slide into the water and get damaged.
Retrieving the boat on the trailer
When retrieving the boat on the trailer, be careful about the following:
a)
Position the boat in the centre of the trailer before pulling it out of the water. It's crucial to
have the boat in the centre, to be able to lower the keel on the trailer later on.
b)
When winching the boat on the trailer, you will need to lift the bow over the front cradle
slightly. For easier lifting, help yourself with the bowsprit.
c)
When winching the boat on the trailer, don't pull it tight on the breaking pad on the bow, but
keep about 5 cm split. This will enable you to use the boat cover and prevent the rubber
marks on the gelcoat.
