USING VOICE ACTIVATION
Voice Activation eliminates the background “hum” associ-
ated with sound monitors when there is no significant
sound being transmitted from your baby’s room. It does
this by automatically placing both the Nursery Unit (transmitter)
and the Parents’ Unit (receiver) into a “standby” mode. When sig-
nificant sound is detected, the Voice Activation automatically
returns both units to an “active” mode and immediately transmits
your baby’s sounds to you.
You can determine how sensitive you want the Voice Activation
feature to be. For example, if you want to hear the slightest
sound in the nursery, adjust the sensitivity on the Voice Activation
dial on the Nursery Unit to the maximum level (See Fig. 5). If you
only want to hear when your baby cries, adjust the sensitivity to a
lower level. You may have to adjust the sensitivity level a couple
of times until you get the exact level you want.
Remember
, when using the Voice Activation feature you may think
the sound monitor is not working because the monitor is com-
pletely quiet and you don’t hear a background “hum.” Don’t
worry – the monitor is in a “standby” mode and will immediately
return to the “active” mode when your baby cries or makes
sounds. If you want to hear this “hum,” deactivate the Voice
Activation by switching it off on the Nursery Unit (See Fig. 6). The
Voice Activation controls are only on the Nursery Unit, not on the
Parents’ Unit.
