non-zero report interval, a report will be transmitted at the requested time interval and also when a
change of state occurs.
All analog inputs require a non-zero report interval.
Sample Interval: Setting a sample interval defines how often the Node samples the I/O point
device. Enter the desired interval in seconds. The value is rounded to the nearest 62.5 millisecond
increment.
Report Type: Select from discrete or analog format reporting types. Analog data requires sixteen
bits while discrete data uses only one bit per I/O point. Selecting double from the list uses two
consecutive registers, each consisting of sixteen bits.
Analog Signal Conditioning
Delta: The delta parameter defines the change required between sample points of an analog input
before reporting a change. Enter a zero to turn off this option.
Hysteresis and Threshold: The threshold
defines a trigger point or reporting threshold
(ON point) for an analog input. Enter a zero to
turn off the threshold, otherwise use a specific
value, e.g. 15 mA for a 0-20 mA analog input.
Threshold and hysteresis work together to
establish the on and off points of an analog
input.
The hysteresis value establishes how much
below the active threshold (ON point) an
analog input is required to be before the
input is considered off. When set to zero,
hysteresis is turned off. A typical hysteresis
value is 10% to 20% of the unit’s range. In the example given above, the input is considered on at
15 mA. To consider the input off at 13 mA, set the hysteresis to 2 mA. The input will be considered
off when the value is 2 mA less than the threshold.
Units: Selecting the units defines the range and/or type of analog value associated with the I/O
point. Select from the following units:
Units
Description
Raw
Displays the raw A/D conversion data. Data ranges from 0 to 65535.
Typically only used for factory calibration.
4-20 mA
Analog input unit.
0-20 mA
Default analog input using 0-20 mA.
On/Off
Default discrete inputs. Any discrete (digital) device
0-10 V
Analog input using 0-10 V instead of current
Temp C
Analog input for temperature devices such as thermocouples, RTDs,
and thermistors
Temp F
Analog input for temperature devices such as thermocouples, RTDs,
and thermistors.
Temp C to mA
The device converts the standard temperature input into a mA reading.
Temp F to mA
The device converts the standard temperature input into a mA reading.
Selecting from the Units drop-down list automatically changes the units of several parameters,
including threshold, hysteresis, and delta. After changing the units, click the Change button to
update the units used for the parameters.
If the units are
0-20 mA,
the threshold, hysteresis, and delta values are entered as milliampere
values. Selecting
Temp C
from the drop-down list changes the threshold, hysteresis, and delta units
to degrees Celsius.
